UNZA Radio is an educational and community-focused FM radio station broadcasting on 91.7 FM from the University of Zambia in Lusaka. It was established under the Department of Media and Communication Studies as a training platform for students pursuing media-related programmes.
The station began with a construction permit in 2000, conducted test broadcasts in 2001, and received its full broadcasting licence in 2004. Its core mandate is to provide hands-on practical training in radio broadcasting, journalism, production, and media management. Students actively participate as presenters, producers, reporters, and technical operators, gaining real-world experience essential for careers in media and communication.
